Title of lesson:Using Romeo and Juliet to introduce choice literature project
Description of lesson: Introduction to American Literature using tools we learned from Romeo and Juliet. Students will relate themes of Shakespeare's work to their choice book. We will review literary elements to help students begin.
Assignment: Research project on an important piece of American Lit.
Technology reflection: Students will be using the links to research and develop a presentation for a newly introduced piece of literature. There grade will be based on the research they collect for this project.
Evaluation: (as a classroom teacher, this will be where you jot your notes on what went right, what needs to be changed, etc.)
I love introducing new things to students after they have worked really hard understanding elements of previous units. This project is the end of one unit and the beginning of another. Students will need to reference notes from Romeo and Juliet to understand certain literary elements and apply them to an American Literature piece. This project all gives students the opportunity to choose their own next piece of literature.
